Wood Sheathing Builds Business
Three residential builders cut callbacks, improve customer relations, and meet code requirements using wood structural panels. This publication describes how three builders in Idaho, Texas, and Ohio gained a competitive edge by fully sheathing the walls of their homes with plywood or OSB. The builders reported improved structural performance and fewer appearance-related callbacks. The testimonials from the builders are consistent with the findings of a recent study conducted by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center. The builders surveyed reported increased racking strength, superior shear resistance, better nailing substrate, and other performance advantages with wood structural panels, compared to other non-structural products. Issued October 2005
