Freres Lumber Co., Southern Veneer Products Accepted for APA Membership

The APA Board of Trustees has approved two manufacturers for APA membership. Freres Lumber Co. in Lyons, Oregon, was approved for plywood and structural composite lumber, as well as a new cross-laminated mass plywood product. Established in 1922 by T.G. Freres, the company has a long history as a family owned and operated business that focuses on maintaining modern manufacturing facilities and production of high-quality products. The new mass plywood panel was tested and developed through a partnership between Freres Lumber Co. and researchers at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry and the new Center for Advanced Wood Products.

Southern Veneer Products is a plywood manufacturer located in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Founded in 1998, Southern Veneer is a producer of southern pine plywood and veneer. The company has a stated goal of achieving continuous improvement of manufacturing practice of veneer and sheathing products.

“We are delighted to welcome Freres Lumber Co. and Southern Veneer Products into APA membership,” said APA President Ed Elias. “Both companies have long and established manufacturing operations, and we look forward to working with each of them as they expand to new products and quality assurance programs.”
